23 October 2010 Hartwell
Is This the Year of the Young Rods? Last Saturday’s tournament on Lake Hartwell is in the record books. It definitely was another one of those unusually tough tournaments on the Savannah River Chain. But, it also marked what looks like a possible turning point. All of our Young Rods managed to put limits in the boat, and a couple took home some nice winnings. Congrats to Buddy for bringing in a really nice hawg and walking away with the Progressive pot. He definitely kept the suspense up to the very end. Congrats also to Art for his nice limit. All of the under 30 guys managed to put limits in the boat, in spite of the tough fishing. Steven, even managed to weigh in a bigger limit from the back of Gene’s boat! Us old guys had better watch out, and we need to step up our game. Darrell continued to whack them, and he is trying to run away with this year’s points’ race. Let’s just remember the story of the tortoise and the hare. There’s still plenty of the race left, and a lot can change. But, it was good to see some new faces stepping it up. Was it a fluke, or is this the year of the Young Rods? Us old guys aren’t going to just roll over, so let’s just see what the rest of the year brings. I may not be as good as I once was, but I’m going to be as good once as I always was. Murray may be it!
