Lugoff Bassmasters Tournament Report: Lake Wateree, 16 August 2009
The Lugoff Bassmasters held their first tournament of the 09/10 season on Lake Wateree yesterday, which was a team tournament with points to be shared by team members. Tough X 100! It was like most of the bass had gone somewhere other than in the lake. Bites were hard to come by, and keeper fish were almost mission impossible. We tried everything to coax a bite. It looks like the majority of the bass are suspended in deeper water and aren't very active. Most of the fish caught were shallow and willing to hit soft plastics on a t-rig. Problem being, you had to make hundreds of casts to find a taker. No action on points, humps, or ledges. A few followers on a DD22 and a few nippers on a c-rig, but no keepers. Members fished up and down the lake. Only the occassional lucky cast seemed to work. Come on Fall!
