The purpose
of Lugoff Bassmasters is to create, among fellow anglers and the
public, an awareness of our chapter and society’s
contributions to American angling, conservation and outdoor recreation;
to encourage and instruct the youth of our community in the art of bass
fishing; to pledge ourselves to full adherence of all conservation
codes; to promote and share camaraderie; to improve our skills as bass
anglers through the exchange of bass catching techniques and ideas; to
stimulate public awareness of bass fishing as a major participation
sport, as well as a relaxing and healthy past time; to offer our
organized, moral, and political support and encouragement to our state
conservation departments; to demand adequate water standards and legal
enforcement of existing regulatory standards; to detect and report any
polluter, call public and political attention to his/her crime; to
encourage both private and governmental studies into any reason why
fishing on our lakes and streams is deteriorating, and to have them
seek out solutions for restoring and maintaining top bass fishing
conditions for ourselves, our children and future generations; to
promote and encourage youth fishing. Kids don’t go fishing,
they are taken fishing); to instill at any early age an interest and
love for this great sport; and to participate and promote fishing
tournaments to help stimulate public interest in bass fishing.

In just 7 days, Lugoff
bassmasters will hold their 6th tournament of the season, this one on
Lake Murray. Tournaments during this time of year are always extremely
tough, and normally prove to be the make or break of an anglers season
when all the points are tallied up. Come back next weekend to see the
complete tournament results. Here's hoping that 2010 proves to be an
extremely productive season on the water!

20 Dec 09
LBM held a tournament on Lake Wateree
on 19 Dec. To say the fishing was difficult is something of an
understatement as no limits were caught, and of the 11 competitors,
only 8 fish were brought to the scales! Half of the fishermen didn't
even get a bite. Shaw Bassers also held a tournament on Wateree
and had the same kind of day. Congratulations to Darrell Munn
for the win and to Dale Goff and Joe Akshar for their respective
2nd and 3rd place finishes. Tournaments like this make it clear
just how tough bass fishing can be.
Jim Timmerberg, the club secretary had these words to say. "We've got
to find some other lakes to fish in the summer and winter. If you
look back at the tournament results, most of the time Wateree fishes
exceptionally tough at those times. We should be able to find
better lakes for those seasons.Wateree is close...that's about all that
it has going for it."
Check out the results and standings page for a complete points and
standings. Don't forget that there is an open tournament on
Lake Murray on 27 Dec. Check out
www.scfishingreport.com for
more info. Please email Jim Timmerberg (use the 'interested in joining'
link above) if you plan to fish it.
The clubs next tournament will be on Lake Murray on 9 Jan 2010. The
meeting will be on Thursday, 7 Jan.
12 Dec 09
We're
only a week away from the December tournament. LBM will hold its 5th
tournament of the season at Lake Wateree on 19 Dec. Last year, Jow
Akshar destroyed the rest of the field by bringing over 11lbs to the
scales. Darrell Munn and Gene Gibbs rounded off the podium with 8+ and
6+ lbs respectively. Hopefully we'll see a few more 10+ sacks this
year, but the winter months always prove to be very trying. Check back
next weekend for results!

Anglers from LBM will meet
for their 4th tournament of the season this Saturday at Lake Wylie. A
few have already set themselves apart from the pack, and these "winter"
tournaments often prove to be some of the most crucial of the year. If
anglers aim to make the 6-man tournament, they must do well when
conditions are tough. Results will be posted Sunday, so check back.

Congratulations to the LBM 6-Man team for finishing 8th in the
6-Man tournament! The team ended
day one in 26th place, weighing in only 20.83 lbs. After a spectacular
rally on day two, they finished
in 8th place with 61.48 lbs. Well done! The tournament consisted of 50
teams from across the state.
